Can the U.K. and U.S. markets keep growing amidst current economic, political and demographic influences?

Thursday, November 7, 2019, 11:00 am EST

The U.S. and U.K. housing markets have been promising for both investors and would-be home buyers in 2019. Favorable economic conditions, rising household income and other demographic changes continue to support demand. But will this trend continue?

On November 7, we reviewed the fundamentals of the U.S. and U.K. homebuilder industry and provided our investment outlook. During this session, we highlighted recent trends and the economic, political, and demographic influences that could cause a shift in both supply and demand of new housing in key regions.

Presented by Ken Leon, CFRA Director of Equity Research and Varun Venkatraman, Equity Analyst, attendees learned about --

  • Impact of central banks and government agencies on the housing market
  • How the current political climate, Brexit and POTUS influence the housing market
  • Funding and mortgage rates, mortgage debt to household income, and its impact on new housing demand and starts
  • Demographic trends on home ownership and household rent vs. buy decisions in U.S. and U.K.
